Will "Burke's Law" starring Gene Barry ever be released?
How about "Mr.Novack" with James Franciscus?
"Peyton Place" starring a very young Mia Farrow?

I'm sure all of these shows will be released eventually. Just wait for the announcements.

Fox owns Peyton Place and Burke's Law, but that studio is notorious for being hopelessly slow in releasing vintage TV titles, unlike Warners and Universal. I think that Warners owns Mr. Novak- wasn't it produced by MGM's TV division?

What makes the Peyton Place situation more frustrating is that Fox released the first season of Dynasty but has yet to say anything about its oldest primetime soap!

Which version of Burke's Law do you want? The 1960s (black & white) or the 1990s sequel series (in which Amos and his son Peter worked on cases together)? Both had Gene Barry as the millionaire police captain.

Also, in the 1965-1966 season the third and last of the original series was changed in a major way as Burke changed professions and the name altered to Amos Burke, Secret Agent. By 1994 he followed in Lt. Columbo's footsteps because in his old age, Burke was a cop again for another 2 seasons.

Oh yes, and the grandfather at the end of the Steven Spielberg-Tom Cruise remake of The War of the Worlds released in 2005 was played by Barry -- who didn't have a single line. The man starred in the original version in the early 1950s. Gene's still alive! :)

This is regarding the original Four Star production that was Aaron Spelling's first success as a TV producer. BTW, Jeff- you forgot to mention that Gene's leading lady in War of the Worlds Ann Robinson also was in the new Spielberg/Cruise version as the grandmother!

For what it's worth, there is a single episode of "Burke's Law" titled "Who Killed Jason Shaw?" floating around on at least two vintage TV compilation DVD sets from public domain releasing companies Platinum Disc Corporation and Diamond Entertainment.

Any news on Season 2 of Burke's Law?

Am also hoping Paramount will release the 1994 version of Burke's Law on DVD

It was 7 months between releases on the first season. By the same schedule, season 2, vol. 1 would have been out this June, which it won't be, obviously. VCI does nice work but can be slow.

Since my original post in 2005,2 out of 3 of these shows have debuted on DVD. Time for Mr. Novack to make an appearance.

My guess is that they will announce the next batch after ZANE GREY THEATER comes out next month. The restoration process takes a long time.
Does anyone know if VCI has access to the post-BURKE'S LAW "AMOS BURKE, SECRET AGENT.?"

That would be great if season 2 vol 1 comes out before the end of the year, that for sure. And Amos Burke, Secret Agent would be a hoot to see again.

The liner notes in the S1 V1 set indicated that the intention was to get all the way through the show's run including "Amos Burke Secret Agent". However, one thing to remember that's likely causing the longer delay between installments is that VCI only licensed the show one season at a time so that would mean they would have waited some time for sales figures on S1 before starting the paperwork to have S2 elements furnished to them AND begin restoration work so it shouldn't be surprising that S2 isn't coming out at the same interval as the S1 releases did. I did get an e-mail from them some time back that they were still planning on doing it, so I think it's just a matter of having to wait a little bit longer. In all likelihood we'd then get V2 of S2 six to seven months afterwards and then have to wait a bit longer for "Amos Burke".

Hopefully by this point they are past the "planning" stage and they are in the process. It's great how they included all of the commercials although it would have been nice if there was a feature that allowed you to watch them within the show if you so desired.
