I just bought "Bully" on DVD at Best Buy ($ 17.99). When I got back to work, I noticed it said "Theatrical Version" on the back of the case. Best Buy's ad stated the movie was unrated, but now I am worried that there is a director's cut or something available as a separate release. Does anyone know if two versions were released? Any help would be appreciated.

I believe only the unrated version is being released on DVD, although an R-rated version is going to be out on VHS tape. As far as I know, all of the DVDs have that red stripe on the back cover with the words "theatrical version" in white letters. This is confusing, but I think you are OK. It was released theatrically unrated, so it is technically correct.

    Regards,

I can confirm that it was only released in one version. The copies we received stated Theatrical Version on the back of the case. The information we have received from our supplier is that the title is Not Rated. IMDB reports that it was released in theaters as an R-Rated feature and Trimark's web-site says it the video is R.
Sorry that this info really does not clear up if it is R-Rated or not. [IMG]

I don't care what IMDb says. In New York City, it was released unrated.

A lot of places also are reporting that it features audio commentary (Amazon, DVD Empire, Digital Eyes) but looking at the box art, it says that isn't a feature.

Can someone will the DVD check it out?

The cast and crew was scheduled to record a commentary not very long ago, but there were problems in locating a print... It was a really stupid reason - a new print was being shipped to the studio, while a print was just across the street from them in the first place... this was followed by a few other stupid organizational mistakes that prevented an audio commentary from being recorded - but Trimark decided not to delay the DVD release date.

They are considering doing a second DVD release in the future.

    Ted,

The DVD is anamorphic. I'm about half way through, and the transfer looks darn good to me. I haven't seen any edge enhancement.

So far I have seen two covers and three different running times listed for this film. All are unrated.

    Best regards-Henry

Bully was released in the theater unrated. It wasnt submitted for a rating. So the theatrical version is the unrated version.

I thought the movie was excellent. It is very disturbing. Best to have a "pick me up" comedy for after.[IMG]

I just got my copy of Bully today and it does not have a red label at the top saying Theatrical Version and the running time is 115 instead of the 113 stated on amazon.com

My copy has the red Theatrical Version band but the running time is listed on the back cover as 115 minutes.
