All,

I received my X1 yesterday and am very impressed. Now I must start on building a screen for it. What I plan on doing is making a screen that can change from 4:3 to 16:9 as I want to watch a lot of analog cable and sat on 4:3 but movies on 16:9.

I believe I'll use either electric window motors or larger linear actuators to move the top and bottom black felt borders up and down to make the 16:9 format.

My question is, Is anyone else already doing this? And, if so, how are you hiding the motor assemblies? Do you have any pictures?

Thanks,
Jesse

I'm still working on my system. I am using Bosch aluminum extrusions for the framework and generic electric motors for the opening and closing of the masking. I'll post some pics as soon as I get something working that looks good. BTW it looks like it is going to be about 3 inches deep, wall mounted with everything.
