Hey everyone new to the group and looking for some advice :) Let me start giving you some background.. I purchased a Samsung HT-C6930 (HTIAB) about 2years ago (I know nice job rookie!! shame on me). It looked like a great system for HT and it did the job for my plasma but never hit the level I like for music, I like my music LOUD, ear piercing, shake the earth, knock down your walls... most people go WTF!!?? are you nuts. First thing I didn't like was the sub.. absolutely horrible. Replaced it with a Polk PSW505 that i got a great deal on (another mistake). I ran it with the speaker wire inputs since the Samsung receiver is not expandable with no outputs other than video and speaker wires (WTF??! nothing like my old Marantz or Pioneers). It did the job ok very powerfull yet a little sloppy, tuning was mediocre. So ive lived with it for the past 2years being ehhh. Until I came home last weekend and the sub wouldn't go on... Poped 5 fuses trying to figure out what was wrong with the Amp... speakers fine. F this time to redo.... Did some research and just ordered a SVS SB12-NSD (sealed 12) i wanted to try their sealed sub for tighter bass.. Ok now looking at everything again... this Receiver blows... should have bought a stand alone and built the entire system from the ground up.. Samsungs good for TV's/Blu Ray players/and phones dummy. So nowwwww.. I like things that are nasty loud and intimidating... better decide on some speakers first, those Polk RTI A9s look like they will do the trick. After some research people seem to be saying that they are power hungry and you dont see their true potential until you get above 200watts each. Most receivers don't hit that.. Typically 100-150 on 2 channels and thats usually overstated. So a reasonably priced amp is needed as well. Heres my final thoughts: SVS SB12-NSD - Bought/in route 2 - POLK RTI A9's - About to pull the Trigger really like these Emotiva XPA-2 - About to pull the trigger, In my price range and gives out good power may not be the cleanest but I like Rock/Country/some rap not classical Denon or Onkyo Reciever - Most likely a 7.1 or 7.2 and use my samsung satellites until they pop (then replace hehe) for surround sound and use the Samsung Blu Ray/Receiver just as a Video device. Looking to spend up to 600-700 on the Receiver. lease let me know about my selections (real world experience) any suggestions on different models and especially a Receiver, before i dump my hard earned money ;) . Thanks Brett

The only AVR in your price range with pre-outs... http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-TX-NR717-7-2-Channel-Theater-Receiver/dp/B007JOO4YS/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1357949701&sr=1-1&keywords=nr717 Everything else with pre-outs is $900+ Unless you buy last years...and even then you only gain another Onkyo, a Yamaha and maybe an Elite.

I have seen the Denon AVR-990 down to $750 on sale... I have never owned Denon or Onkyo heard good things on both (always had Marantz when I had an uncle that worked at Bang&Olufsen/Marantz) just want to know which direction i should go.

So you don't need HDMI 1.4. Cool Why not buy a pre-pro and "more amps"? http://app.audiogon.com/listings/processors-onkyo-pr-sc5507-surround-sound-processor-2013-01-03-home-theater-53151-new-berlin-wi http://app.audiogon.com/listings/processors-integra-dhc-9-9-pre-pro-2012-12-23-home-theater-98387-spanaway-wa By the way, the Denon 3310/990 is 4 model years old. Heck, there is a guy on here selling an Onkyo NR1007 for $700. I'd take the NR1007 over the 990 any day of the week.

lol Why i'm asking, I havent bought a decent receiver in years and when i needed one before i had a family member that could get top of the line for almost nothing. How about Marantz I loved my old ones but im talking literally 15-20yrs ago could blow the cones out of the baskets of whatever I hooked up to it lol. Are they still the same quality? Was also checking out the SR 5006 want to know all my options before i bite the bullet.

Nevermind.... on the model comparison it doesnt show but on the specific model page it does state 2.2 out.. So it would have to be the SR6006

actually zone 2 would work.... jeesh lol i worked to hard today, brains are scrambled eggs. all 7 wired outputs would be the samsung satelittes 2 preouts to the XPA2 & rti a9s and the sub out to the SVS.. then once the samsungs are toast replace them with something worthy lol. Then again with all 7.2 preouts it would be nice for expansion in the future.

Don't know what "product page" you are looking at...but clearly shows it says "Analog out Zone 2"...the only audio "output" there is... http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/MARSR5006/Marantz-SR5006-AV-Receiver-with-Networking-and-AirPlay/1.html http://us.marantz.com/us/products/pages/productdetails.aspx?catid=avreceivers&productid=sr5006

Zone 2 only works for analog inputs. So anything connected HDMI, toslink or digital coax would need "doubled up".

7.1-channel audio input, 2.2 channel pre-output, Zone 2 pre-output so other then the subs the 2 pre-out channels are from analog inputs.. Showing my lack of knowledge lol and thanks i wouldve been beating my brain on why the outputs weren't working. I thought that meant 2.2 pre-outputs (so 2 channels for LF RF plus 2 subs) for your main zone or hdmi inputs and separate Zone 2 pre-outs.
