I'm building an HTPC and one of the primary uses is a mp3 juke box. Secondary is playing DVDs. Two things -

    1. I'm using EAC and LAME to rip my mp3s, but I really want a versitile player that can do random playback without repeats. I'm ripping over 500 CDs and I throw large parties. What should I use?

    2. Since I'm asking, I have a HD upgradable TV and I need some line scaling software to play my DVDs on. Sugestions???

    You guys are the best.

Winamp or Music Match Jukebox are both good for random play and both can be downloaded free.

Thanks, Vince. I will be installing a DVD-ROM drive in the PC, so I guess all I need is Power DVD. I thought that the basic DVD software just output 480i. If Power DVD will output resolution of 1080i, than I'm intersted. Since DVD's are only 480, how does the scaling look?

I am intrigued by using my PC as an external scaler, though. I will have to read up on that.
