Well, this was a first for me. I had a spider crawling around INSIDE the screen on my Zenith 53" RPTV. I thought maybe it was one of those exterminator commercials, but nope. It was a real spider.
I suppose to make sure he is out and that no more bugs are inside, I will need to take my TV apart. Any suggestions on how best to clean the inside of a RPTV? I recall some discussion a while back about cleaning the lenses. Can anyone post an update on the best methods and materials for this?
    Thanks!

Yeah, you're going to have to take it apart. If you can just get the screen off, that would probably give you access to almost all of the interior of the set.

Do a search in the TV Forum (where this is being moved) as people have posted on this in the past. If nothing else this gives you an excuse to clean the CRT lenses while inside there.

Actually, I was thinking it was part of a new "SpiderMan" trailer.
So...anyone have more input on how best to clean the insides or the lenses???

I absolutely HATE it when this happens. For me it's usually ants. Having to go through all the trouble of removing the screen just to get the little sucker.
Makes me wonder what's taken a stroll inside my DVD player and receiver.

Well, I started to take the back off of my system when I noticed that there was a smaller rectangular panal that I could take off. It provided good access to the lenses and most of the inner workings of the system. I carefully wiped the lenses clean and checked out the rest of the insides. I was surprised how clean the system really was. I did not find any signs of the spider of any other bugs. I hope he just moved on and has not taken up residence somewhere else in the system. Or, maybe he will just stay there and eat up any future bugs that try and invade my system. Hmmm...maybe I should promote this as some new "natural" cleaning system. [IMG]
