    Guys,

My girlfriend wants a new receiver to go with a set of Acoustic Research HC-6 speakers that I recommended for her.

The biggest criteria is useability: Something that is intuitive for a novice to use along with a good remote control.

By way of reference, I have a B&K Reference 50 with the SR-10 remote control (Hometheater Master MX-500). The initial set-up wasn't easy, but the result is great: the macros allow just about anybody to use it.

Would you recommend getting a remote such as this one:

I'm not that concerned about power: it won't be played that loud. She has a 'cheapo' DVD player so I'm not really worried about DVD-Audio or SACD. Likewise, having the newest surround formats aren't a necessity.

    Thanks for your help,
    Anthony

Onkyo 501. I'm not sure how you define easy to set up but you can find it on sale for around $250.

The Pioneer 812k on sale at BB would be a good choice.

fyi: The SR 10.1 is a MX-700, huge difference when compared to the MX-500
Did you take a look at the Gateway I listed in the for sale area?http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htfo...hreadid=193571
Sounds very nice and i'd be willing to haggle a tad.
    Nice dvd player also included.
