Budget Receiver for friend...Denon 1604 or Yamaha 5650? (1 Viewer)

I just upgraded my rig and am selling my old speakers to a friend (Infinity Reference 2000 series all around). My old receiver died on the day I brought my Denon 3805 home...I think it did it out of spite.

I was going to sell the whole package to him, but now that I don't have a receiver for him, he needs to upgrade his own which is a POS AIWA that is malfunctioning.

So...which of these two is the better purchase? They are both around $225-250 range at Tweeter and I plan to have him do an A-B comparision, but I would like to poll all of you to see if anyone has any experience with either of these models.
