I am sure there are many of us who cannot afford to spend (or justify spending) an unlimited amount of money on the top of the line components for home theater, but at the same time want to assemble a quality home theater on a budget. Maybe it would be helpful to have a dedicated "Good Home Theater for Cheap" type forum.
From reading through previous threads, here is the system I am currently planning. Any comments, or changes you would consider?
    • HDTV: Toshiba 53HX71 (4:3 makes the most sense for me. I'm not looking to debate this).
    • Progressive Scan DVD: Panasonic RP56
    • STB: Samsung SIR-T150 (only interested in OTA HD at this time).
    • Receiver: Onkyo TX-DS494
    • Main Speakers: Paradigm Mini Mk-3 (I already own these).
    • Center: Paradigm CC-170
    • Surrounds: ??? My situation will require in-wall or in-ceiling surrounds. Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Budget?? Nice budget. [IMG]
I's go up to the Onkyo 595 (if it were my choice) but that would be it. Looks like good picks to me.

Brent, you have a nice list of budget components there. While I do not purport to be an expert on in-wall or in-ceiling speakers, I have heard a lot of good things about Niles products. Crutchfield sells them, and I believe Tweeter does as well. Whether or not they will match up well with your Paradigm speakers is another story.

Paradigm makes in-walls, which will most likely be the closest match to your already existing Paradigm L/R/C.

I'll second the Paradigm in walls.

And your plan looks good, maybe try to move up to the Onkyo 595.

I also suggest moving up to the 595.
