    Hello,

A friend of mine is on a budget and would like to get a new HD direct view TV for $800 or less. The only requirements are that it be 16x9, hd capable and no more than $800.

Any and all help/insight is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    PJ

I've seen a Samsung 30" widescreen in that price range.

It's a little over $800, but Best Buy currently has the Sony 30HS510 for $899.99 with free shipping and a free $50 gift card.

There is a Sanyo 30" 16:9 set @ Walmart that is sub-$800 that has gotten some good feedback. 32" 4:3 is 97% as big for widescreen, and much bigger for 4:3, though.

They should be considered unless there is some reason you don't want a 4:3 set.

I second checking out the Sanyo with the Built-IN HDTV Tuner at Wal-Mart. I'm saving up for the 32 Inch model right now & will probably buy it before or after Xmas when I'm hoping they will be going for under $700. There is a big post on the Sanyo at www.avsforum.com he might want to check out.

Yeah, I always mention the Sanyos at the Evil Empire...errr...I mean Walmart...[IMG] because the price is really good, and the avs forum feedback seemed pretty good.
