    Great news! [IMG]
    ------------------
He thought on homeland, the big timber, the air thin and chill all the year long. Tulip poplars so big through the trunk they put you in mind of locomotives set on end. He thought of getting home and building him a cabin on Cold Mountain so high that not a soul but the nighthawks passing across the clouds in autumn could hear his sad cry. Of living a life so quiet he would not need ears. And if Ada would go with him, there might be the hope, so far off in the distance he did not even really see it, that in time his despair might be honed off to a point so fine and thin that it would be nearly the same as vanishing.

With a new anamorphic transfer and all those special features, this special edition is a steal for $20.00. Tremendous support for a, well, lessor known title. Three cheers for MGM!

As per usual, I'd be shocked if MGM owned the original poster art for this movie; it at least looks better than the VHS cover.
This release has sold a DVD player; I've got a friend who said he would buy one if and when BB was released.

My pissed-off state at MGM is beginning to lessen, See other studios, when you begin to do things right, we stop yelling and start praising!
Now if Stargate's release frequency and disc count could be increased, UHF:SE is true, and Bill&Ted get some extras, I would be totally at peace [IMG]

...MGM is getting to be a hit and miss studio...case in point..."Scanners" has a lip sync problem, they won't admit it, so in won't be in my collection, "Invaders from Mars" has a 99 minutes running time, the Anchor Bay version runs at 102 minutes just like the Elite laser edition, gave it to my son and picked up the Anchor Bay one. This studio is cranking them out, that's great, but let's hope they try and do a better job at "QUALITY CONTROL"!!!

...well David, then you would think that on their website they would have brought that up as eloquently as you just did. I guess I will keep my copy and be happy that there are very knowledgeable people on this website...thank you for so much!

Not knowledgeable; just a movie junkie! [IMG]
But, yes, you're right. You think they'd get word out. Sigh.

I have been Soooooo looking forward to this release. I even signed the online petition to the person in charge of this project (forgot the name. have to tlook up old e-mails.) I'll certainly write her back to thank her.

When I read the list of features, I was sure this was a cruel, cruel joke. Now I see that it's true! IT'S TRUE!
    O happy day.

But will the deleted scenes be IN the movie? They were supposed to be and were removed against the wishes of the director.

I can't wait, but I'm glad MGM held off until they were able to put toether a special edition. Too bad the cover looks so crappy, but it's the movie that counts.
Thanks MGM for adding the prrologue. It was my favorite part of my 15 year old bootleg VHS tape.

The deleted scenes are not in the movie, and sourced from the only source available, a VHS tape of a workprint. Apparently the originals were almost definately destroyed a long long time ago. This is from an email I got from MGM today

The extra scenes that I've seen, from a billion-generation-down bootleg VHS of the "rough cut" are - aside from the prologue - mostly just scene extensions, running a few seconds. A line or two of dialogue, mostly.

[IMG] Man that is one ugly cover. The marketing director's kid must have just graduated from the Art Instruction School.
