Let’s take a look at Brokeback Mountain.
After first attracting notice for both The Wedding Banquet (1993) and Eat Drink Man Woman (1994) in his native Taiwan, Ang Lee had a memorable Hollywood directorial entrance with the success of Sense and Sensibility (1995). His next four films ran from hot – The Ice Storm (1997) and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) – to cold – Ride with the Devil (1999) and Hulk (2003) – in terms of success with critics and audiences. However, his next film following Hulk, Brokeback Mountain, would mark a dramatic shift in Lee’s fortunes here in America. Previously released on DVD and Blu-ray by Universal, Kino has licensed the movie for its UHD Blu-ray debut.
