    this is BEYOND pathetic.

    C'mon Paramount, I hope this isn't true.

At least put on a Betty Thomas commentary or deleted scenes.

    PLEASE?

I'm actually surprised to this very day when I see special features on Paramount DVD titles.

In my 14 years of collecting laserdiscs, Paramount only released two LDs with any significant bonus features.

    RE: Mr Blythe's quote

I'd think it would be the opposite, load up the features on the catalog titles in order to entice people to buy them again. New releases sell themselves by virtue of the fact they're new releases.

    EDIT: for clarification

Paramount know the demand for these films, not just from this board but all other DVD forums as well.

I'm very disappointed with this news.

I fully support titles with no extras. I'd rather they issued films in two formats, a la laserdisc - a full featured premium release, and a no-frilss movie-only release.

You watch extras once. After that, they're in the way. I just want to see the movie.

I have no interest in this particular film, however.

Let's think about this. Is it really practical for a studio to load up every catalog release with extras? I'm sure there are many people who loved this movie and will buy it, regardless of the amount of extras. How would much the extras increase sales of this disc? Probably less than 1%. Meanwhile, there are countless catalog titles languishing in vaults waiting for release.

New titles, even movies like Jackass, are going to sell many more copies than most catalog releases. I think we can all agree that classics like Casablanca and Citizen Kane, and smash hits like Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark, are worthy of Special Edition treatment. Most older movies are not.

I would much rather that the studios didn't waste time or money filling up these catalog releases with extras. I want them to put that effort and expense into releasing more titles. There are dozens of old titles that I am afraid will never be released on DVD. I would gladly trade extras for more titles.

This is bad on their part. The fact that these discs have no bonus features makes me feel that "Popeye", which is to be released later this summer, is about to be a no-frills disc as well. and I hope that doesn't happen.

The reason: "Popeye" is one title I would make an SE because I would like to hear the filmmaker's real thoughts on the picture. Not to mention, Paramount released an SE of "Nashville" a couple of years ago, or so that is what I remember, and if I remember that correctly, then maybe "Popeye" might get the same treatment, but we'll have to wait and see.

I've been patiently waiting for these two movies to hit DVD for many years, so I'll definitely buy them both...but I'd be lying if I said I was not extremely disappointed by the lack of extra features. [IMG] What gives?

    Extras are nice,

but even nicer is a gorgeous new 16x9 transfer of the ACTUAL MOVIE.

    Thanks Paramount!

p.s. would it *really* cost you so much to stick the trailer on the DVD???

No deleted scenes, no sale. These are readily available, I don't understnad why not throw them in.

    Hi guys,

I'm so happy to learn that the Brady Bunch theatrical movies are coming to DVD. I've been waiting for them for a good while. They are so funny and make me feel good every time I see them. And yes, it may not be the most popular opinion in the world, but I prefer The Brady Bunch movie to Indiana Jones as well. [IMG]

Isn't it great when you hear the theme song in that great hi fi stereo sound? So many great moments in the films, and the musical numbers are great too.

Carol Brady: "It certainly is windy out here. I'm sure glad I use Aqua Net."
