Brilliant movie. Linklater kept me completely absorbed through almost three hours, with no intermission. The disc looks beautiful, and there are a couple of terrific bonus features. We'll probably see a re-issue with commentary and docs down the line, but for now, this is golden!

What amazed me most about this film was the aging of the two kids.

The same actor and actress played themselves from young kids through teens

on up to twenty-somethings.

Don't know how that was accomplished, but amazingly effective.

This is a "must own" Blu-ray

Ron, it was filmed over twelve years. That's how they aged.

Wow. I did not know that, but thinking about it now I don't know how else it would have been done.

That is an amazing concept. A film twelve years in the making where all the principal actors continue

to film scenes and update the story.

Really, I knew nothing about this film and the background of it. It really put me to the test as to how

they aged the kids.

I feel kind of like an idiot not even realizing that was done....

...but you are right -- it's a first in cinematic history.

That's really thinking out-of-the-box. What a hell of a concept.

Yes and no. The --Up documentaries have followed British kids every seven years since the 60s. And the Harry Potter kids aged into young adults over the course of the series. But, no, it hasn't been done in this particular way.

The Potter "kids" were all around 40 years old when the series started. They appeared to age/get bigger due to makeup and visual effects... ;)
