When the initial delay came down, I got the impression at the time that we would not/should not know anything by now. I figured it was gonna be a release closer to Christmas. So I mentally set my alarm clock on this title to looking for word on it by Sept-ish (give or take a month).

That's a complicated way of saying that I'm not worried yet, and won't be for about 4 months. :D

Michael Moore's advice about this apparently is to sign up at Amazon to have them e-mail you when the DVD is available. At least that's what his website offers in the way of notification. I figure that there will be an HTF post before Amazon e-mails anything.

and it's released in France in a couple of days with more features

http://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000071452/

• La conférence de Presse à Londres (45 min)
• Cannes 2002
• Les suppléments DVD-Rom (Les fiches pédagogiques)

I've ordered it with "The Big One" due on the same day.

Should I see the need, I will upgrade to the R1 disc when it arrives.

Maybe it's been delayed so that they could add his Oscar speech in as an extra.:D

Well, with the current "buzz" and with Moore on the talk show circuit, I would think any smart marketing dept would be hot on getting this disc on shelves. I would imagine that in 4 months you'd have far less sales than a June 1st release!

According to Momentum, the UK distributors the lack of bonus features is (to paraphrase) "because Moore is spending the bulk of his time opposing the War in Iraq"

Something that is quite feasible. However, that does not excuse the UK barebones release. Why does everybody demand instant releases when the filmmakers are not available? I'm glad MGM are delaying until Moore is ready.

Momentum are already planning a 2 disc release when the times comes (which shouldn't surprise any UK member - remember "Amelie" and "O Brother"?)

Or more like planning how much he can further irritate Americans by making a fabricated docomentry about the 9/11 tragedy all with the help of F'n Disney.

If I were you all, if you own stock in Disney right now, sell it. This new movie of his is going to tank. Just like Bowling did.

When making a post like this that attacks a filmmaker and his intentions, you might like to do a little research first, so that you are not open to the same charges you level at Moore.

Unless of course your definition of tank expands to mean ‘highly sucessful’. With a little background investigation, you will find that Bowling for Columbine is the most successful (in box office terms) documentary ever.

You might like to know that Roger and Me was also a financial success.

You should in no way construe this to mean that your (or anyone) needs to like the movie, nor does it mean that the film should not be critically examined (there is, in fact a thread devoted to this).

It does mean that I disagree with your apparent confusion of your view of the film and whether or not it was financially successful.

Uh, I don't have any idea what you are talking about. You may not like Bowling For Columbine and object to its fabrications and politics, but the film hardly "tanked." The movie made back its $4 million budget in France alone. In the US it made $21 million and counting and has certainly played in NY for about 9 months, hardly a failure. And Moore got enough press and notoriety (let alone the Oscar) and people talking about the subject to make the low cost of the project worth it.

So, Bowling For Columbine was fabrication? You may not like Moore but that doesn't mean he doesn't make some very thought-provoking points in his work or that it was all made up. If there was someone I would want to make a documentary about 9/11, it would be Michael Moore.

As for the DVD release, I can understand the christmas mentality, but I certainly don't want to wait that long.

Frankly, I think MGM is more waiting for the fervor to die down over his oscar comments. Probably see it in late summer now

...there is an organized effort on the right, that has never forgiven Moores Oscar speech, and the word is "Get Him!" through ANY means possible.
One method will be to spread the rumour that his films are fiction. (S'funny-these same folks never let out a peep about the February faked UN "WMD" documents)
So much for free speech.

Those with something to hide usually become vicious....

However, dont worry about Columbine or the new film...
Moores book and films have shot up in sales on the charts because of this nonsense, so they appear to be doing him a favor.
hows it go-? ALL publicity is good publicity...

And if we find more out about 911 than some folks would care to have known,
I would have to say, let the chips fall where they may...
