My post is a bit premature, but I bought the 50" Pioneer Kuro PDP-5020 today. However, it won't be delivered until Jan 31 :frowning: I need the new TV hutch to arrive and my schedule doesn't really allow earlier delivery.

This is my second HDTV; however my first, a 36" Sony WEGA has never actually seen an HD signal really only resolves about 800x600. I'm looking forward to a real HDTV on a 50", 1080p screen! :D

Congratulations, Dave! We saw a lot of Kuros at Pioneer's demo room in L.A. I can't remember whether yours was among the models on display, but the whole line is very impressive.

My wife has been urging me to buy a new TV. I was planning on buying this Fall and get the newest '09 Panasonic or '09 Kuro. But the current Kuros are so nice and this price is so good, I decided to enjoy now over waiting 11 months for the newest tech at higher prices.

Gregg, or others, any suggestion for finding a Calibrator around Rochester, NY? I'd like to learn more, get some pricing, and consider it.

I also need guidance on setting up an antenna and connecting it to the house coax for OTA HD for all rooms; if anyone knows regional contractors that can help with such services.

Dave,

First of all, a hearty congrats! We have seen the Kuro brand
time and time again at CEDIA and they stand out from all the
other plasmas. The quality is just unbelievable!

That being said, $2199 for a 50" Kuro?!!! That's amazing! Do
you know how much my hand is shaking right now to refrain
from buying one of these? I would have to see what the prices
are on the 6" or above (not sure how big they go).

Ron, I'm looking forward to this TV. It's my first real venture into HD. I'm looking forward to connecting my MacBook Pro to it to play with that. And the Xbox 360 is going to be sweet

My 36" WEGA from '02 has been great, but I'm ready to move to the next bigger thing. Just no one talk to me about the '09 models when they come out ;)

The Kuro goes up to 60", both regular and Elite. However, pricing on 60" is not marked down as much. It's specifically the 50" that's on sale this week. BestBuy has a particularly good price, as do some major online stores; I understand that similar pricing is available through the independent vendors as well, if you like to shop "local".
