I was watching Life Or Something Like It this evening and this quote was lifted directly from it. A daughter had purchased the Acoustic Wave Radio for her father and she emphasized that it was made by Bose. Although there were other product placements in it like Mitsubishi and Altoids(!), I felt the Bose one stood out the most. Do you think that the company had any say in what was said about their product in the script? It might be something akin to, "Sure-you can use our product but it must be regarded as..." I am curious about this because it seemed to stick out at me as a little disruptive to the flow of the scene(just a tad).

    Yikes.

    Just... Yikes.

So they not only make the world's crappiest sound systems, they also write the tackiest plugs?

    Here you go:
Here they are, every thread on Bose to be found at HTF. The good, the bad and the ugly.
And here are the threads dealing with Bose over at AVS.
They're not THAT bad, as there are certainly brands and models with worse quality. However, for the money, yes, they are that bad.

Although I should move this to hardware, Bill Harris and myself laughed our asses off when we heard that Bose line in "Life or Something Like It", so I'll leave it here. [IMG]
Even funnier than all of the changed names of the news station personnel and it being called KQMO. [IMG]

This is nothing new. According to the book "For God, Country, and Coca-Cola," during their 7-year-ownership of Columbia Pictures, The Coca-Cola Company refused to let anyone depicted in their films drink Pepsi or any other competing beverage.

Indeed, product placement is nothing new. But I thinkw hat most people are commenting on is the crassness of the plug.

I've heard Bose is an acronym for:
    Buy Other Stereo Equipment
