I was reading the forums over at audiocircle and I came across this thread about Dahlton speakers(white van speakers). Somebody in the thread noticed that Dahlton apparently sells a set of Bose Accoustimass knockoffs, the AM module is different and appears to be an actual subwoofer. But the sats appear to be identical, with one exception, they claim to have a 13mm tweeter in addition to the (2) 2&1/2in drivers, it's probably just the addition of a whizzer cone to one of the drivers. Here is a link to the Dahlton AV 5.1 Bose knockoffs. I can't believe that Bose hasn't sued this small white van speaker company back to the stone ages. Or, maybe Bose is "the man behind the curtain" in the white van speaker scam!!!

Check our their 4.5 series. It amazes me how they can get someone to do the cabinetry for these speakers and still sell them so cheap. Anyway, I'm pretty sure the 5.1 series isn't THX like they claim either.

Becarefull of their wording!!! They use THX as part of the product name, but, nowhere in their advertising do they lay claim to THX certification.

Still, the letters THX are a registered trademark...or whatever. It's not like the Dahltons are a kind of food. It's a 5.1 audio system. I don't think they're allowed to use THX.

Sure, but the specs are useless!

My main speakers will do 40-16 000+-3Dbs without a problem, but without a +-?DB my speakers measurements would be just like a Bose speaker.

The Dahltons are a better value than the Bose, and probably sound just as good.

It means you need a qualifier to go with the measurement.

You gotta be kidding me, right?!?! I checked out their link, and they don't even have a business address listed. Speakers do look like Bose. Some of their other speakers looked identical to some other manufacturers' out there as well. Floorstander looked like a Mordaunt-Short 908 (I believe). Anyway, this place looks about as shady as they get. If you give these cats any money, might as well be buying them out of a van...

One thing that I found pretty amusing, was the fact that they list the sats as, front, rear, and center, like there is a difference between them.

I have seen knockoffs of JBL Control Monitors sold as "JDL" in mainland China.
