I am looking at buying some new speakers and was at a Bose factory outlet and was impressed by the bose system. Then after many so so reviews im not so sure, due to the amount of cash to put out for these guys. Then went to circuit city and was checking out the Velodyne surround system it sounded very nice and was also a nice amount of cash. So, if anyone has any input on either sysytem i would appreciate it. Also, i had come across Harman Kardon HKts12 series surrounds and dont find too much input on that system.

    Thanks

    Angus,

Read these forums.. Don't make any rash purchases.. Do
a search for "Bose" here on the forums and read all the
    previous Bose threads.

The AM systems are at best horrendously overpriced and you
can most certainly do MUCH better for the same amount of
    money.

If the size of the speakers is an issue there are even
some companies offering similarly sized cubes and the first
that comes to mind is the M&K MP Series which isn't cheap
but isn't any more than the Bose Acoustimass setup and is
in every sense of the word, a superior setup from a company
that has made it's name offering true professional recording
    studio monitors.

Another that would come to mind is the Mirage OmniSat and
    there are many, many others.

Sounds like you're in the market for small surround speakers. I have the Energy Take 5.2 system. They are "small" and come with highly adjustable mounting brackets. As a bonus, they are available in white, black, or maple/silver. I am more than pleased with the sound of these little guys, and I got them for $420 without the sub.

I'm sure everyone here will agree that they will blow the bose out of the water. (and with all of the money you'll save you can get a nice sub AND go on vacation)[IMG]

    Angus,
I saw the Velodynes at CC, too. Nice rig. It looks like they are discounting them. I think they are like $999 now. Not a bad deal. That Velo subwoofer is very cool - it is like the HGS series stuff. I think if the issue is Velo vs. Bose, it's a no brainer.
