Is it possible to convert Bose Acoustimass satellite speakers for use with a normal 4 or 8 ohm amp??

My best friend has a yacht which came equipped with a Bose Acoustimass entertainment system. He likes the Bose systems (has one at home) but has totally given up on the one on the yacht. The Subwoofer/Control units obviously do not like the various marina hookups or the on-board generator as two have "gone south." Obviously the boat presently has no on board surge protection. He likes the Bose satellite speakers and would like to keep them and wire them to a normal reciever/amp.

Each speaker is sealed with a four wire cable leading into it.

Is it possible to connect them to a standard amp.???

Yes but I would recomend water resistant speakers instead of Bose.

Believe he can get away with the existing Bose non water resistant Acoustimass satellite speakers as they are well protected in the salon. This is the same Bose unit one would use in their home and not a special marine setup. Do you know what the the connections would be or is it trial and error with the four wires of each speaker to the normal plus/minus output of a standard receiver/amp.???

Describe the speakers and the wires again. Do they have detachable cables or are they fixed.

The speakers are the 2 satellites of an Acoutimass 3-2-1 system. They are
rectangular, approx. 6" X 3". Don't remember if the cables plug into the back of each of the two speakers or are hard wired. I do know it is 4 wires to each speaker.

Acoustimass on a yacht. Interesting concept. Kinda like drinking Dom Perignon from a Dixie cup... : )
