I have a friend, who has a Technics receiver, 85 x 5 wts. I told him not to buy those speakers, I went to listen them, i read the reviews and all the comments of you guys about Bose. The thing is that he buy them, and I went to his house after about two months of use, and I told him to show them to me, to take the grill out, what a surprise, both tweeters where "IN", you know, like if someone put the finger on them. I told him how about the tweeters are made of paper and the receiver is too powerful for those speakers (rated 60 watts each)and he told me that, he thoughy it was his fired maid hat for revenge, put her fingers into the tweeters. Then he called to Bose (we dont live in the US) and the guy told him that it was a sign of someones finger´s. I leave a picture so you can decide of it was a sign of the famous Bose´ reputation or somebody who where mad. Thanks.
PS. The picture is after he put a tape into the tweeter to make it "come" a little bit, it was a suggestion by Bose.

Well, my hatred of Bose aside, overdriving speakers is very difficult to do (underpowering and clipping is MUCH more common), and even then, this does not cause tweeters to "cave-in." I've never seen any drivers cave in like that (or out for the inverse cones). Fabric tweeters can get dimply normally, but a bose paper tweeter that's inverted has been pushed in, probably by someones finger. If it's worth it, you can swap out tweeter, or just leave it as is, as the sound will likely be just as crappy as previously. Otherwise, you can always have your friend ditch them for some real, affordable speakers. And it probably was the maid, or a small child or somebody. Tweeters don't just cave in like that.

Well Francisco, that's easy to find out. You can hire the maid then fire her after a couple of weeks and then check your tweeters!

Actually, you dont know how many times I told him not to buy those speakers. He was between the Bose and JBL N26, far better the JBl, I dont know why he bought them, he´s the typical guy who like´s Bose beacuse of advertisement and stuff, and Bose´s fame of great sound.

I have a good picture of both wrecked tweeters, but i dont know how to post them, anyone knows?

The thing is that I dont think that a maid could take the grill out, put the tweeter in both speakers, thats what I tought it will be too much power for those crappy ones.
Imagine that he didnt tell that they where "in" after I tld him to show me the speakers without the grill, then he see them, what an ear he has.... Oh men.

Thanks for repling,
Francisco.
