I have hundreds of bookmarks in my browser
that have been copied over to new computers
over the 9 years. Every time I buy a new
computer I just copy the FAVORITES file from
MY DOCUMENTS folder and it just seems to keep
getting larger.

Right now I use Firefox browser exclusively.

I was hoping to find a really good BOOKMARK
ORGANIZER program that I could transfer all
my bookmarks to, categorize them, and perhaps
even be alerted when the bookmarked website
is no longer active.

I looked at a few software programs, but could
not make a choice. There is one that opens up
as a sidebar on the left hand of the screen --
which I sort of like since it stays tucked out
of the way till it is needed.

Just wondering if anyone out here is using
anything special to organize all their bookmarks.

If you have a particular software program in
mind, please feel free to link to it.

I use AM-DeadLink for making sure all of my bookmarked Favorites are still active. I use IE as my main browser (and I just import all my Favorites from IE into Firefox when I do my routine maintance rounds), so I'm not sure how well (or if) the application would work with Firefox. (It lists Mozilla as an option, but not Firefox.)

I organize things the old fashioned way...manually...so I don't have any suggestions for you there...

AM-DeadLink is freeware, and can be downloaded here:
