I have decided to go from towers to bookshelves as the towers are just to big for my studio app.I just want to get some opinions on a few brands that I am looking at.I would get the corresponding center and sub from each company or if any of you recommend one from another that would work with these choices that would be great. EMP Tek E5iB-x4 + center and sub Axiom M2 x4 + center and sub HTD LVL 3 x4 + center and sub Warfedale Diamond 10's x4 + center and sub If you have any other suggestions go ahead. The app's basically a 16x24 room.It has some odd angle due to it being above a garage. Thanks for your suggestions and opinions.

I haven't heard any of those speakers so I can't give an opinion on them. Just make sure you get the matching center channel. I wouldn't get a sub from any of them though. Pick a sub from a company known for their subs. SVS, eD, Epik, Rythmik, Hsu, Outlaw (designed by Hsu), Emotiva and a few others I'll remember later.

I have Axiom M22s and M3s and love them both. However, I wouldn't recommend the M2s for primary speakers, I think they're meant more for surrounds. And I agree that I wouldn't get the Axiom sub, I think you can do better in terms of cost cost/performance.

I agree about the M2s: too small. The smallest I'd go from them would be the M3 as a main paired with a decent sub from one of those mentioned by Robert_J. What is the budget roughly?

Better - http://www.svsound.com/view-all?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=12 Best - http://www.wilsonaudio.com/product_thor.shtml (Price isn't mentioned there but it runs about $20,000).

A single Empire or dual Legends - http://www.epiksubwoofers.com/products.html# Any of the Rythmik subs in that price range - http://rythmikaudio.com/products1.html The A7-350 is right on your budget - http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_info.php?cPath=2_41&products_id=746 (less if you pay with Dwolla) Any Hsu subs. Duals if you go with a less expensive model - http://hsuresearch.com/index.html You can beat any sub listed above (including the Wilson) if you spend that $1200 on a DIY sub. There's nothing special about that Wilson.

Depending on shipping, the Rythmik F12 would be a good choice and the F15 might be really close to that budget. The Empire costs a little less for the sub itself, but with shipping will likely be close to the same total cost. I just received an email from Epik today as a matter of fact, saying they've lowered their shipping costs (maybe a new carrier?). SVS PB-12 would likely fit the budget also and the HSU VTF-15H and VTF-3 should as well. ANY of these subs would be great performers.

You also have to factor in where you are. SVS ships from OH. Hsu from southern CA. Epik from Chicago. eD from Newton, IA. Rythmik from Austin, TX. Shipping something this large across the country isn't cheap.
