    My one complaint...

I hate the type of sleeve the disc is in. What is this? Some DVD wallet?

Have you even seen the movie? This has to be the best movie tie-in packaging for a dvd EVER!!! The infamous Book of The Dead a WALLET!?! Sacrilige!!! Solution: buy the keepcase version, and kick yourself in 2 years time when you see TBOTD selling on ebay for a fortune. [IMG]

The other shortcomming being the fact that one can easily detect the square around the moon in some shots [IMG]
Maybe I should lower my brightness just a tad. I did however do the THX thing. All seemed well.
The rest of this release is great!!

NO, I'm not saying I don't like the Book, I mean the little plastic sleeve that the disc is in. I'd prefer some type of "click-on" CD type holder, you know, like regular DVD's. I like the Book, I just don't like the method of putting the disc in it.

FWIW, I didn't care much for the sleeve that holds the dvd either. They obviously put a lot of time and effort into creating the "Book of the Dead"; the dvd sleeve however, seems like an "Oops! How are we gonna put the dvd in this thing?" oversight. [IMG] Oh well, it's not that big of a deal...

    Are you guys kidding?
AB wants you to scratch the disc so that you have yet another reason to purchase ED. [IMG]
I do like the outer packaging, though.

I like the book, although the rubber is a little stinky. My main concern though is the eventual deterioration of that rubber. Ive seen rubber masks before that fall apart after a couple of years. Seems like the same material.

Yeah, the sleeve that the disc goes is really crap. I wonder how they got my disc in there without putting a single scratch on it? Oh well, it's nothing a keepcase won't fix. Gotta say this though, this is a fantastic set appearance wise....it's so textured and squishy.[IMG] It's gonna be the talk of my collection that's for sure.[IMG]

Want to know something cool? At work, I laid out all 10 copies of the BOTD that we had. You know what? Every one was DIFFERENT! The paint job was obviously unique, but it seemed to me that there were 3 or 4 different molds used for the face and ears on the back. Almost every one was different in some way! COOL!

Is there anything on the Book of the Dead version that isn't on the regular disc?

I was wondering if they are the same disc or not.

    Thanks.

Just a note of interest, the square around the moon has been visible since the old Anchor Bay & Elite (DVD & LD) releases. I guess blurry video transfers were enough to obscure this in the past.

If you listen to the Bruce Campbell commentary he points out the "cheesy moon matte" [IMG]
