I agree Sam.

I was just responding to and disputing this statement.

I maintain that unless you were in Jamaica when they filmed Dr. No and have better than 20/20 vision, no ever saw the films look as good as they do on blu-ray

I actually don't think it's unreasonable.

The modern Craig films have all been huge box office successes; they're the most commercially successful films out of the entire series, with Skyfall crossing the $1 billion mark. I think those films are likely to be bigger sellers on the UHD format than the older films. That's not to say that the Craig films are the ones I think are the best or the ones I want the most, but I think the marketplace reality is that those films are the ones which will have the best chance of selling well on physical media at this particular moment in time.

To be honest id prefer to upgrade 1962-2002. I’m not as excited about the Craig films as I just don’t watch them.
I actually just sold my target exclusive spectre Blu ray a few months ago too.

That might be true in your case, but Josh makes a solid point in regard to the overall consumer market.

Seems like the newer films would appeal more to younger fans which, as we're told constantly, don't buy discs but stream everything. I'd think older fans would be more likely to buy discs, and I think they'd prefer the older Bond films.

I don't know how you quantify that older fans would be most likely to buy just the older Bond films on disc? TBH, the reason why I bought those Bond digital streams from iTunes is so they can be updated without me having to buy them on disc again. It's not just younger people streaming now!

I'm 61 and purchased all of the Bonds in 4K from iTunes last week when they were on sale. Now I don't have to wait for them to be released on disc in 4K UHD, and I can finally get rid of the Bond 50 Blu-ray set that protrudes like a 2x6 from my disc shelf. The titles I've watched so far look fabulous, particularly Goldfinger.

I definitely prefer physical media, but there are times when streaming just makes more sense for me.

The annoying thing about the films on iTunes is that only the remixes are included. If nothing else, I'm keeping the blu-rays to have the original audio for the earlier films.

I was curious to see how the Craig films would fare when adjusted for inflation. Still pretty well, it turns out. These are the international grosses adjusted for inflation, though I'm not sure how accurate the numbers on some of the earlier films are:

1. Skyfall - $1.2B
2. Thunderball - $1.1B
3. Goldfinger - $1B
4. Spectre - $950M
5. Live and Let Die - $928M
6. You Only Live Twice - $851M
7. The Spy Who Loved Me - $781M
8. Casino Royale - $757M
9. Moonraker - $740M
10. Diamonds Are Forever - $733M
11. Quantum of Solace - $685M
12. From Russia with Love - $652M
13. Die Another Day - $615M
14. Goldeneye - $598M
15. On Her Majesty's Secret Service - $572M
16. The World is Not Enough - $556M
17. For Your Eyes Only - $549M
18. Tomorrow Never Dies - $540M
19. The Man with the Golden Gun - $504M
20. Dr. No - $500M
21. Octopussy - $481M
22. The Living Daylights - $430M
23. Never Say Never Again - $411M
24. A View to a Kill - $362M
25. Licence to Kill - $322M
So all Craig movies in Top 10 (or 11, as it were).
Not a single Brosnan, not even Goldeneye.
Not what I would have guessed.

That’s big. Are the extras included on digital as well? There so much great content on the 007 discs.

A friend told me they were priced pretty cheap.

Going with iTunes would meet me buying more hardware. I just bought an Oled and UHd Blu Ray player.

I believe Goldeneye was the first ever Bond film to cross the $100m mark (unadjusted) at the domestic box office, however.

Apple TV 4K is all you need. Under $200. Worth every penny and more imo.

Yep, the 32GB model (which is all most people need) is $150 at Best Buy. WELL worth the small investment IMO. Best streaming device I've ever used, for both online services and my personal collection of movies and music via Plex.
