The Daily Mail is generally not considered to be a reliable journalistic source. Treat it as if it were a headline in the National Enquirer.

I kind of hope that rumour is true - Phoebe Waller-Bridge is a terrific writer.

That’s cool.

Seems like this film is taking a long time to get started and lots of rewrites. Kind of like newer U2 albums....

I'm still scared because of the Purvis and Wade involvement. I think we'll get what we've gotten for the past twenty-some-odd-years: a well-cast film with great action and set pieces, a great performance by Craig as Bond, but a ludicrous script that isn't strong enough to hold up all of the good work that everyone else involved in the production has contributed.

Agreed.
Crossing my fingers but realizing the best part of the new film will be getting all of the previous ones on UHd Blu Ray. Hopefully!!!

Also pleas bring back David Arnold. And Duran Duran?

I'm following this thread and reading the articles but my desire for another Bond is greatly diminished. It just seems that since Casino Royale, each subsequent movie has just gotten louder and made less and less sense. My son and I used to look forward to each new film, now we are both just sort of "meh" about it. All of the turmoil and delays have not improved our desire, the opposite seems to have set in. Guess after so many years, boredom is finally setting in (don't want to call it old age yet ;)).

The spirit of what made James Bond James Bond has been lost. Mission impossible now seems to understand and has become the new James Bond series for me.

It’s so strange that I never thought it would happen.

I’m always excited about a new 007 film though. But I agree with your thoughts.
The Craig films are rarely watched by me.

Looking forward to the announcement this morning!

Some more info:
Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.

At the end of the announcement, we also got a first look at the house that Bond will be staying in at the opening of the film.

Locations for the film include Jamaica, Norway, Pinewood Studios and few locations in London, as well as a small hilltop town in Italy called Matera.

Broccoli and Wilson also revealed the official James Bond 25 cast, which includes returning actors Ralph Fiennes, Lea Seydoux, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Rory Kinnear, and Jeffrey Wright.

Meanwhile a few new faces were confirmed, including Dali Benssalah, Billy Magnussen, Ana De Armas, David Dencik, Lashanna Lynch, and Rami Malek as the villain...

Scott Burns and Phoebe Waller-Bridge were confirmed to be hired as writers on the Bond 25 script, working on a rewrite of the script which was originally developed by John Hodge and then reworked by franchise veterans Neal Purvis and Robert Wade.

Aside from Rami Malek, I've never heard of any of these people.

I agree that JB isn't what it used to be. These used to be theatrical events for my family, as well. Now it's kind of like, "Eh, maybe we'll get to the theater, but maybe we'll just wait for the disc."

As Osato says, within the major action film genre the JB mystique has been usurped by the Mission: Impossible films and also the Fast & Furious franchise to an extent. I'd rather watch any of the last three MI films or last four FF films before most any recent Bond film.
