With the death of Bob Hope, I'd like to know what you think are his best movies and why. I'd like to buy some on dvd.

Most of his movies aren't worth buying. But if you were to own some BH movies then you must start out with a complete collection of his "Road" movies with Bing. The best one of the bunch was Road to Morocco for two reasons. One was because of the great song "Moonlight Becomes You." And the other reason is Dorothy Lamour.:b (Yeah, she's in the other Road movies but she looks great in this one.)

If you're interested in the "Road To..." movies, you might check at Costco; I was there this weekend and picked up a box set of four of them (were there more than four?) for $29.99.

    There are seven Road pictures,
    Road to Singapore
    Road to Rio
    Road to Zanzibar
    Road to Morocco
    Road to Bali
    Road to Utopia
    and Road to Hong Kong
I have them all on tape but I wish they would release a complete box set of all of them w/ supplemental material.

CAT AND THE CANARY, a remake of the silent (and a great bedfellow of THE GHOST BREAKERS), is one of my favorites and, so far, ignored by Universal. Hopefully there will be a second "wave" of releases from this studio, and CAT will be included.

    I couldn't disagree more.

Some that are definitely worth buying:

    The Ghost Breakers
    My Favorite Blonde
    My Favorite Brunette
    The Paleface
    Road to Bali
    Road to Hong Kong
    Road to Morocco
    Road to Rio
    Road to Singapore
    Road to Utopia
    Road to Zanzibar
    Son of Paleface
    Sorrowful Jones

As far as which to start with,

The Paleface (his best non-road pic)
Road to Utopia (the best of the road pics in my opinion)
Road to Singapore (the first of the road pics)
