All the legends are leaving us this year. :frowning:

Rest in peace, Mr. Hope. And as everyone else has said... Thanks for the memories.

He performed tirelessly for our troops all over the world until he could physically no longer do so. He went to the dangerous places without hesitation but always with a smile and a joke. His movies were a treat and his radio show made him a household word all over America.

...Not bad for a Brit.

I would like to see him offered a place at Arlington, perhaps in a section a little to its own. I don't think any entertainer has been so devoted to keeping up morale during war.

I'll say it again,

Thanks for the memories....

Heck all he did for the troops, that would be the least we could do for him!

R.I.P. BOB...

Pretty soon we will have to have a forum for all the great actors who have died recently. I sure hope not. I will miss Bob Hope. He was a great comedian.

i was lucky enough to quickly meet the man about 10 years ago when i worked at paramount studios. he was there for the opening of the newly designed back-lot.

i was working the show and had to help escort him up to the podium. he was already quite weakened physically - i was shocked to see what a poor state of health he appeared to be in.

however....once he hit that podium and started his routine it was like he went back 50 years. he was right on the money and had the entire crowd laughing out loud.

the moment actually gave me goosebumps. it's something i'll probably never forget.

i was also lucky enough to visit (and give tours of) a lot of the places where he and bing did their thing. there is this little plot of grass where the two of them often used to putt their golfballs. standing on it was pretty cool.

he was (and still is) a true hollywood legend and icon.

rest in peace.

Great memories, Ted. Nice extra info about that great entertainer.
Yes, this year is truly sad in this respect. Some of the very greats of show-biz and of the cinema leaving us.

Rest in peace, mr. Bob Hope, there's so much you have given us.

Over the years I've had only a passing acquaintence with Bob Hope's work. I'd see him stroll onto the Carson show, or see clips of him entertaining the troops...I've also seen (and enjoyed) a few of his films (Son of Paleface, a couple of Road To movies).

I never gave his gifts much thought or appreciation - I thought him well-loved but over-rated.

Funny thing though - after watching some of the tributes to him, including his 100th birthday special...

I believe I was wrong. He was a tremendous talent, innovator, and man.

Rest in peace, Mr. Hope.
