I currently own a Samsung HLN467W DLP TV that is almost 5 years old. I am interested in purchasing a new BluRay DVD player. The TV does not have an HDMI connection but does have DVI input as well as S video input. If I purchase A BluRay DVD player will I be able to utilize profile 1.1 bonus view without an HDMI interface. Also, any recommendations on a compatible BluRay player.

Hi Roger. Welcome to HTF.

DVI and HDMI are identical pins (HDMI adds the audio but the video wires and signals are identical). So you should not have a problem. I am using a BlueJeansCables HDMI->DVI cable on my Samsung right now and it is working great. I cannot tell you for a fact I have used the 1.1 bonus view features, but this is no reason to NOT get a BluRay.

Recommendations.... I'm not a huge Sony fan but the PS3 is one of the better players (all those cell processors inside gives it a massive amount of CPU to do a great job with the video).
