Several weeks ago, I purchased Blues Brothers 2000 DVD from Amazon.com. Much to my dismay, it would not play on my Mits 7040 or my JVC 701. Anyone else have a problem with this DVD??? [IMG]

any move that has that musically moronic idiot from David Letterman's Late Show in it cannot be worth the celluloid.

    Period.

Paul was also in the original and vastly superior Blue's Brothers band lineup. I don't think he made it into the original movie (why, I don't know), but it is him on all of their concert albums and also I believe in their SNL appearances. Silly or not, Paul knows his stuff when it comes to music.

BB 2000 was just a bad idea carried to the point of getting a movie made out of it.

Paul was also the band leader of Saturday Night Live for a number of years. [IMG]

Paul is just a frustrated blueman, so it makes sense he'ld be in this film.

His solo albums are basically classic R&B covers. Not bad, but I'd rather buy the real thing.

Boy... I bet Gene is sorry he posted the question.

It played fine on mine when I watched it awhile back. I must say it did sound good, at least, but a poor movie in comparison to the original.

The original BB was my first video tape I owned of a movie... copied from a laserdisc in 1980 (maybe 81). Both the laserdisc player and video cassette machines back then were big clunkers.

I thought Paul just played keyboard and Howard Shore was the SNL band leader.

At the time, he was involved in Gilda Radner's Broadway stage show (and subsequent film and album) Gilda Radner - Live From New York as musical director (and also portrayed Don Kirsher (Kirschner) in the show), which was a Lorne Michaels production (his first SNL-related theatrical film). The Blues Brothers wasn't. The part intended for Schaeffer was handed over to Murphy Dunn.

Actually, I didn't mind "Blues Brothers 2000"... Its an energetic musical, a half-comeback for John Landis, and another tribute to truly good music.

Its not as good as the original, obviously, but that doesn't necessarily make it a turkey...
