I screened Hercules in the Haunted World last night. It is a great transfer and the color is fantastic. But as a movie, it sucks. The acting is bad, the story is bad, the dialogue is bad, it isn't terribly entertaining. But the lighting and cinematography are great. Mario Bava was a genius at getting tons of color and mood on a limited budget. If the way a film looks is enough, then this may be worth it to you. I'm glad I watched it, but I doubt I'll be returning to it often.

One odd thing though. I couldn't get the English subtitles to work with the Italian soundtrack. I had to watch it with the English dub.

I think there aren't english subtitles for the italian soundtrack.
The english subtitle track is only for a scene in the beginning in the english dub, where it is in italian (or german) - I'm not sure.

Cine Savant has given a very favourable review to the Koch Media Blu-ray disc of Posse From Hell. I've now placed my order.

Fox are releasing Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines (1965) later this month, also Flight Of The Phoenix (1965) & Hombre (1967) in April & Journey To The Centre Of The Earth (1959) in May, they look to be multi-region & really quite cheap. Also, Morituri (1965) coming from Koch in March.

That I'm looking forward to. Not a great film by any means, but the b&w cinematography was stunning in theaters. I saw it at the RKO Keith's, an old turn of the century opera house in Syracuse NY that was converted to a movie theater in the 1920's. Had a giant Wurlitzer organ that used to rise from the stage level. They used to show silent films there on Saturday mornings when I was a child. Gone now; torn down in the early 70's.

Saw a 4K German edition of 12 Strong on the Amazon UK site. Since there doesn't look like there will be a US edition any time soon if at all, was wondering if anyone has purchased this version. If so, what did you think?

Today I received Incident At Phantom Hill (Western Patrouille) from Germany. I found it very sharp (maybe with a bit of enhancement), with really excellent color and contrast. It has the new Universal logo at the very beginning after loading the disc, with the 1965 one at the beginning of the movie. I showed it on my 111" wide scope screen and was very happy with it. Jocelyn Lane - yeah, baby!

I can now confirm that the Posse From Hell disc is excellent and well worth buying if you're a fan of Westerns.

I ordered Venom 3D from Amazon Germany. This is a stupid question probably, but I assume the cover insert will be in German? I have reserved the Blu ray from our local library, and thought I would copy their insert.

Great news about Waterloo. Hopefully the transfer will do it justice.

I have received Monster on the Campus (Koch). The image quality is superb, one of the very best b&w blu rays I have seen.

It has AR of 1.33, 1.85. I much prefer the former as the 1.85 looks a little tight to me.
