Thanks for writing about it and I will now order it and the movie has English sub-titles which is an added bonus for me anyway.

I own the German Blu-ray too and watched it recently with the aspect ratio in mind. You're right that the framing looks fine all the way through. And there's no panning and scanning. It's odd, though, that the titles are window boxed, even though they are in a similar ratio. I guess it's possible they are being shown in 1.37:1 (window boxed) and the movie in 1.33:1 (full), but it hardly seems worth the effort. The titles also look fine at that ratio; there's no obvious cropping and no text is cut off.

Bruce it’s not zoomed, fortunately and the transfer is lovely, but the 1.37 is screamingly obviously wrong from the opening credits. Everything, wde, medium, two shot is composed for both wide and Academ. I tried masking it at 1.85 and thats what it should be. I think this is the last British feature shot with three strip cameras, although its all filmed in Venice, imcluding interiors.

So why would Dick say "perfectly framed" with no excess head room in this Academy transfer? I have no doubt you are correct, David - because I've seen the Academy transfers and they are screamingly obviously wrong. It's just funny that people see what they want to see.

For those of you thinking of The Hunters I ordered a copy a couple of weeks ago and hopefully will receive it before too long - perhaps anyone who might have it can chime in on the video and audio quality, otherwise stay tuned.

It is listed on the insert as English 5.1 and is decoded as such by my receiver. It is definitely stereo, but not much out of the surrounds as is usual with these soundtracks.

    Cheers John.
Not sure whether to order it or wait to see if TT issue it.
    Never seen it.

Great find! There also was a Super Technirama 70 Hercules movie with Reg Park that hopefully will also find its way to Blu-ray at some point:

    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054851/?ref_=ttspec_spec_tt

I admit that it has a really bad rating but when it comes to large format sword and sandal movies beggars can't be choosers...

Has anyone bothered with White Line Fever and Kill them All And Come Back Alone? I just received both of them along with High Wind In Jamaica and will be watching them projected sometime this week - hopefully the transfers on the first two will be decent, I understand High Wind is passable. Ordered them from Grooves and they were released by Koch Media.
