Hey,
i got a LG 50PG10 Plasma 50" HDTV ( Native resolution of 1365 x 768 ) with a Sony BDP-350 Blu-ray player. My tv can take a 1080p source but it will be downscaled. What is the best option.. To put my blu-ray player to output 720p, 1080i or 1080p? Is the TV or the blu-ray need to do the job?

Here's the thing: like most non-CRT TVs your plasma can only display its native resolution. So even the 720p output is going to be rescaled by the set. I'd try all three and see which one looks best. (If you feed it the 1080i signal, the set will have to deinterlace the image, as well as re-scale it. Ultimately it will be a question of which has the better interlacer and scaler - the player or the TV. The only way to determine that is to try all options.)

If you had a true 720p set, like a DLP or LCD rear projection TV, it would be a no-brainer - use the 720p output. With a 768p set you're back to trial and error.

Regards,

Joe
