Just a heads up to everyone that's thinking of pre-ordering Spiderman on DVD. According to my inside source, Blockbuster will be running one of their 10-week rental card promotions (similar to Shrek, LOTR, Monsters, Inc) for Spiderman later this year. $24.99 for 10 rentals and then you get the DVD for free. This isn't being advertised yet, but look for it around the end of the month/beginning of October.

Oh man, I'm going to have rentals stacked up for the next year: Monsters Inc, SW, Spiderman...too good of a deal to pass up. Nice thing about living in California, don't have to do consecutive week rental.

I still have about 4 rentals left on my LOTR card...:b

One is on 11/1 and the 11/12 I think. Gee, I'd hate to have to take 2 rentals every week. My LOTR was just about done before Monsters Inc kicked in. You would think that would be to their disadvantage since I would think the same people would want both.

I highly doubt it. I haven't heart anything about this yet. Where did you get this information?

The guy at my local BB told me that the Spiderman deal kicks in on 9/24.
Too bad I'm not in Cali, but what the heck, I can watch 2 movies a week. [IMG]

I don't have any links or doc, but the manager at my local BB said SW ATOC and Spiderman cards were coming.

My Blockbuster is sold out of the Spider-man cards - but the price has gone up to $29.99. I just don't know if I think it's as good a deal at that price. I may just buy the LE at B&M.

Is Spiderman any different from a store shelf copy from Best Buy or will it have some sort of Blockbuster label on it?

Also, will it be full screen or widescreen?

As with Lord of the Rings, you have your choice when you buy the card.

The Spider-Man promotion does not begin until 9/24. As for Star Wars, my local BB told me early to mid-October.

I only heard about the Spider-Man promotion, and I will be getting that. I do hope it's still 24.99, not 29.99. It is still a deal at 29.99, (if you make sure to use all 10 rentals), but not as good of a deal.

I did the LOTR one but not the Monsters, Inc. As mentioned, I was not interested in that kind of movie.

The national price for this promotion is $29.99.

Plus you get entered into a drawing for a full size spiderman statue (one per store).

Well, even at that price it is still a discount. Just pisses me off they have to take something great and water it down. At this price, in my locale, a regular rental costs $4.23 with tax. Including the tax on the card, these rentals will now only cost $3.17 a savings of $1.06 per rental, plus getting Spiderman for free. But with the LOTR card the per rental price was only $2.65, a savings of $1.58 per rental.

With the Monsters Inc and LOTR cards, I think of it as getting those dvds for $15 and paying about a buck per rental. I hope this $29.99 is not the new permanent 10 week rental card price. I think Episode 2 will run this promotion as well.
