Bleeping ridiculous words in movies on TV (1 Viewer)

I hate this censorship of supposedly "bad" words. In what way are they bad, will they offend people? Will hearing them cause children to lead immoral lives?
The best part of it is how words are edited out but not other things.
"I'm gonna blow your Fu... (bleeep) head off!" Followed by guy blowing other guys head off..
But at least they saved young Billy from hearing the F word...

That's no joke, that's how it should be. The site you linked to would like to get cable under FCC regulation but that pesky Constitution keeps getting in the way.
Cable is something YOU pay for, if you're offended by it, cancel it and go back to government approved programming. I'm so sick of these "what about the children?" groups trying to push their beliefs on everyone else. There'e also something called a V-chip that might come in handy.

Oh man! I was watching "Not Another Teen Movie" last night on the NewVI (a Chum affiliate).

Anyway, this was, or appeared to be completely uncut. They were using "he fucked me in the ass" and "I took a shit on his chest". And every swear word imaginable.
as well as all of the original nudity. Anyway, about 3/4 into the movie, they bleep the words "pussy" and "mother" of the word motherfucker
.

I was stunned. They let everything else in the movie go except these very minor things. Crazy!

I wasn't too surprised about FX not censoring profanity on full-length widescreen releases ("Die Hard" comes to mind), but was "shocked" that TNT and/or TBS had apparently (and somewhat recently--I dunno exactly when the changes took place) relaxed their standards as far as editing profanity was concerned.

I know that whenever Mallrats aired, the ViewAskew boards ran amuck. They (FX) dubbed Jay's voices with a person who had a Jamacian accent, not Jason Mewes. Very funny stuff. I wish I knew some lines.

When I saw some movie about Babe Ruth on TV (I think it was called "The Babe"), they showed him as a kid, and all the other kids were calling him "large-ass". It looked as though they replaced the word "lard" with "large", but I never saw the original version, so I can't be sure.

Patrick, Hopper did that to HIMSELF once when he hosted Saturday Night Live in the late '80s. He parodied his role in a skit with Victoria Jackson and Dana Carvey (I believe), ending it with his exclamation, "Let's FREAK! I'll FREAK anything that moves!"
Speaking of which, everybody should watch the USA Network when it airs Casino just to hear Sharon Stone screech to Robert De Niro, "Oh, FREAK youuuuu! Freak you, Sam Rothstein, frEEEEEEEEEEAK YOUUUUUUUUUU!"

Every time they showed Die Hard 2 here in NZ, thy would just cut out the end of that phrase. It wasn't until I saw Die Hard With A Vengeance in cinema that I learned there was more to that line.

Reservoir Dogs aired recently on Spike and sometimes they would bleep out the word s**t and other times you could hear it. Didn't watch the entire movie, so don't know how they handled other swear words.

Another thing I have noticed is that if you watch with the english captions on you can sometimes read the swear words even though they have been censored out audio wise. I noticed this on AMC when they were airing some 1960's Vietnam movie and there was tons of swear words in it that you couldn't hear but with the captions on you could read every single swear word that was in the movie, such as Motherf*****, f****r and just about any other swear word you can think of.

I sometimes watch movies on cable with the captions on just to see all the swear words that are bleeped out. Note that this doesn't work on all channels or movies.

From the angle of a Dutch speaking person: "farkakte" looks suspiciously like our word for "shitted over and over". BTW, it also looks, though slightly less so, like the - related - word for "posh" in a rather denigrating sense.

There's a seventies Sci-Fi novel (but I cannot remember now which one), where in the future the word "bleep" has become a swear word. So they say things like "You bleeping moron" and simply "Bleep!".

Very funny. Think of someone using it on their future form of TV: it would have to be bleeped out.

It also slightly changes the meaning of this thread's topic line.
