Blade Runner DVD - which version to buy?

NOTE: Sorry for posting something this simplistic, but the HTF Search function is down...
I just went online to finally buy Blade Runner DVD and found 2 different packages, one $20 and another $58. But, Both seemed to NOT use the Harrison Ford voiceover and both used the unhappy ending.
Is there a package which includes both the theatrical and the directors versions? If not, is the $58 DVD (image and sound, not extras)twice as good as the $20 DVD?
    Thanks for your help!

A special edition is in the works. I would wait for that.

There's only one DVD version of Blade Runner. The more expensive item is a deluxe package that contains the same disc and various non-disc extras (I forget exactly what). Only the so-called director's cut (minus the voiceover and the tacked-on happy ending) has been released on DVD.
Strong rumors of a new special edition have been floating around for well over a year, but there's no firm date and no definite information on what version(s) of the film will be included.

Andrea and Michael: thanks for the info. I think I'm gonna hold off getting this one. Maybe it's time for some family Goonies! [IMG]

One other thought: Blade Runner was in the very first wave of Warner DVD releases back in spring 1997. I'll bet you could find a cheap used copy without too much effort, if you want something to tide you over.

A little off topic but I thought I would ask anyway. On the opening sequence during the city flyover, on my TV I noticed a horiz. banding that sort of undulated across the screen. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this effect and whether it is caused by early compression routines. The player I was using was a Toshiba SD3109. I found it distracting, to say the least.

If you are a Blade Runner fan, just pick on the disc by itself. It could be years before we actually see the special edition.

I'd venture to say that if you're a fan of the movie, then I suggest you pick up the current version.
I think the upcoming SE will probably be a different (new) cut of the movie, so if you want to have this, so-called, director's cut in order to have both version, then it's worth picking it up.
