Great News for fans of the show, they will FINALLY be able to complete their collection.

kingfish, I don't think Shout! has the rights to volumes 1 & 2, the Universal releases still appear to be in print. This looks like another "one and done" release similar to what they did with S.W.A.T. and Here Come the Brides from Sony where they released the final season and nothing more.

Shout never re-releases any previously released seasons of shows they acquire, they pick up where the studio left off. I was hoping to see a re-release of Kojak S1 with slimmer packaging but it has not happened.

Shout! did the same thing with Quincy and Hardy Boys by releasing the unreleased seasons only.

It's actually somewhat more complicated than this.

In the Hill Street Blues complete series set released by Shout, seasons 1 and 2 were re-released as single-sided discs (albeit within the confines of the complete series set). The original Fox versions of seasons 1 and 2 were done as double-sided dvd14 type flipper discs.

Also in the Leave It To Beaver complete series set released by Shout in 2012, seasons 1 and 2 were also re-released as single-sided discs (initially within the confines of the complete series set). The original Universal versions of seasons 1 and 2 from 2005-6, were done as double-sided dvd18 flipper discs.

Eventually Universal also re-released Leave It To Beaver seasons 1 and 2 as single-sided dvd discs in 2014.

On the other hand in the Barney Miller complete series set released by Shout, the seasons 1 to 3 discs all appear to be straight duplicates of the old Sony versions (other than the packaging).

So in general, there's no hard and fast rule about what Shout will or won't do in regard to already released old season sets of shows they "continued".
