I'm trying to decide on a widescreen HDTV (Sony 60inch LCD, Samsung DLP and Mitsu 55") CRT and have read lots of posts about how different each of these technologies reproduce blacks.

Any suggestions on specific movies (with specific scenes) to use to really highlite these differences?

    ...Mike.

Not to sound like a broken record or anything, but "Dark City" is often used to demonstrate black level ability. The whole movie. [IMG]

"X-Files: Fight the Future" (the reissued version with the DTS soundtrack) is also a superb black level tester, particularly the opening scenes. Also an excellent way to spot DLP rainbow effects. My favorite scene is when Mulder gets drunk in the bar...it looks fantastic on an HT1000 DLP projector, but looks like shit on my Sanyo PLV-Z1 LCD projector. [IMG]

Cool, thanks. I haven't seen Dark City, but I'll give it a shot.
