I bought it the other day and watched it last night. It kept me me on the edge of my seat the whole time. It's not like any other anime I've seen, not dealing with supernatural stuff and such. I forgot it was animated after a while, it was that good to me. See this one if you're into movies, an especially if you're into anime. I highly recommend it.

Welcome to the world of anime outside the mainstream box. Black Jack is based off of Osamu Tezuka's classic manga character.

You'll find plenty more that doesn't deal with superpowers and such. Try Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamise, or Grave of the Fireflies, Princess Mononoke, (anything by Studio Ghibli is brilliant). There are tons that are based in mainstream topics, but are superb anyway. Macross Plus, Gunbuster(when it ever comes out)
