The 152 minute "Directors Cut" of Black Hawk Down is available on BluRay from Amazon.Japan in a 3 disc release. I have not watched the BluRay yet I just confirmed the 152 minute extended version. The BluRay is Region A.

I'm surprised the USA has only had the one Blu-ray release. That release(mpeg-2, pcm audio, theatrical cut, missing extras from the 3 disc Deluxe DVD) has screamed re-release for years. Looks nice but I'll be waiting for the 4k release in May.

After watching the BluRay I can report the video is excellent a very big improvement over the extended version on DVD. The BluRau includes English and Japanese audio with Japanese subtitles. The subtitles can be turned off the REGION CODE is "A". The 2 DVD's include background, special effects information about the movie.

That's fine with me. I don't believe Ridley Scott had any involvement in the "extended cut".

The shorter cut is 144 minutes with the extended being 152 minutes. The USA release includes the DVD 152 minutes with the BluRay 144 minutes. If the 4k was the 152 minute version I would have waited. I hope I am wrong but all the details I have read say the 4k is the 144 minute version.

I would bet that Sony releases the shorter version just like they did with "The Patriot". Frankly, I don't remember the differences between the two versions, but the original version is the one I saw in the movie theater.
