I just bought a Mits 65" 16:9 television, and am very happy with the picture. On regular cable viewing, it stretches the image across the screen, but when I watch a movie, I still have the black bars.......WHY? I have a Panasonic CP-67 5-disk DVD changer, and I have it set to 16:9 viewing......Is there something that I am looking over, or is there no way to take away the black bars? I remember seeing Jurassic Park at Tweeter when I was auditioning the TV, and there were no bars.......was this a special disk, or did they have it on some kind of stretch mode or something??? Please Help! I am so confused....

Bruce...thanks for that explanation. I'll definitely use that as reference later on.

At the top of this forum, you will find a post marked "Please read this first". If you do read it, you'll find the suggestion that you read our "FAQ and Primer" document and that you should try a search before posting...
Your question is also covered in the FAQ and Primer (in almost the exact wording you asked it):
If I buy a 16x9 wide screen TV, will I get rid of the black bars forever? by Vince Maskeeper
And if you did a search you'd find this topic has been asked about in the past:

So, pretty please- with sugar on top- take advantage of the information which already exists, information people have taken much time to compile to help you.
