The biggest snake caught alive in Indonesia measuring 50 feet long. Sadly, it is now kept in a zoo.

And it sounds like they are using it as a substitute for Animal Control: it eats three or four dogs a month. Great.

I just saw this article and all I can say is WOW!!! If the length of this thing is true, then it shatters the record. I believe that snakes continue to grow during their entire life. This snake must be really old to get that big. It weighs over 900lbs, too!!

This is why I don't go to swamps.

    or jungles.

    or outside my front door.

    That thing is absolutely massive.

I'm just guessing here but I think the scariest thing in the world would be actually seeing a snake in the process of eating someone. The way a snake can deform itself to ingest such a large object...gives me the creeps!

I wonder if they let the people watch the snake catch and eat the dogs, that would be cool.

They have a video of it on MSNBC. I can't believe they actually have people *inside* the pen with the snake. Now if the snake attacked one of these dumb people, THAT might be entertaining. That snake wraps you up, you're done.

Mothers-in-law are probably the only natural predator to a snake that size. [IMG]

I really feel sad for that beautiful snake and wish that it was never found and caught. At least in the wild, it was doing what nature had intended it to do. The poor thing is now in a zoo just so humans can gawk at it. The snake must be very old to reach that enormous size and how can people stand there and watch their pets be devoured alive??!!

Such a sad ending for such a beautiful creature.

Has the weight of the snake been confirmed by a zoologist or anyone other than the dog-feeders? I wonder. If it is really that big, then WOW! But I sincerely doubt it.

Well I would think that people are not bringing their pet there to play with the snake.

I think most of us would disagree, the scariest thing in the world is to watch a very bad movie and not being able to leave because of the SOF.
