While considering which parametric EQ to purchase, I started to wonder since my only use for the BFD is to use it for a parametric EQ for my sub is it over kill?

What are the pros and cons to using a traditional parametric as opposed to a BFD?

The pro: It’s hard to beat the BFD in terms of bang for the buck. You can usually get one brand new cheaper than a good analog (i.e., “traditional”) parametric EQ used.

The con: Because it is digital, the BFD has a much steeper learning curve than an analog parametric.

Either way, it is not overkill to get a parametric EQ (either kind) for your sub, Martice. It will deliver amazing improvements.
