Well, I'm a cheap SOB and I've resisted buying a new LCD so far this season.

I've seen prices all over the map - Black Friday prices fell sharply and then went back up with some minor reductions up until Christmas.

Does anyone have insight as to where prices are going to go from here? Obviously down but how quickly and to what point?

I've really been eyeing the Sony 2010 and have seen it for about $1699.00 but I would really like to be at about $1200.00.

I have no idea what I'm doing.

Article: Sony whines over HDTV price drops, says it's "looking out for the industry"

My opinion: LCD prices are expected to drop another 20% over 2007, but Sony LCD's will likely remain the most expensive. The S2010 models will likely be phased out in next few months in favour of new 1080p models (V2500, XBR2, etc), so I would expect the model to come down a bit by Q2 2007.

That being said, Sharp and Samsung offer far more competitive pricing.
