Well the picture quality is ok but the sound is weird, as whenever the musical numbers start the center channel disappears and I have to turn the volume up! It's a Lions Gate,Hallmark release. 5.1 dolby digital, full screen as it was made for tv back in 1993.

The Dolby Digital 2.0 track is far better than the fake 5.1 track. The picture is pretty soft on my projector, but it could be worse.

The old Laserdisc looks and sounds great.

I was considering this DVD, but I think I'll now stick with the Laserdisc.

I have the original pressing of this disc from Pioneer and Artisan. I got it about two years ago before it went OOP. Yesterday I saw the new version from Lion's Gate, and according to the back cover they have added a commentary track with the executive producers. Can anyone attest that this has been added as an extra? Is it any good?

There are no extras on the original release that I have, except for a "select a song" menu, although picture and sound are both pretty good.

Yes, there is a commentary on the DVD. I've only listened to a few moments, however.
