Christmas Vacation is the best. Vegas is probably the worst.
Watching Christmas Vacation is a tradition at our house every Christmas!

I do love the boss speech in Christmas, but that is the high point.

Will, I also didn't like European Vacation the first time I saw it either but it has since grown on me. Give it another go if you haven't already.
When they are in the train and are doing things to annoy each other just cracks me up. Also, "hey kids, there's Big Ben.....Parlament."

    Too easy...
"Christmas Vacation", good for me, too.
    "Vegas Vacation" just flat-out blew.
    Sincerely,

    Best: Vacation
    - The first is always the best.
    Worst: Christmas
    - I don't know why, but I'm not a fan of this movie. I found European and Vegas to be much more enjoyable and watchable, but the film does have some memorable scenes.

Best: Tie between first and Christmas
    Worst: European
Most underrated: Based on the replies on this thread, Vegas Vacation which, while not as good as the best, is still a funny movie IMHO.

a better question is... why are Vacation and Christmas MARed (modified aspect ratio... I believe they are presented open matte, though I haven't seen them myself) on DVD?

I don't remember, because I refuse to buy the non-OAR DVDs!!!!!!!
Although it's been a while, I'd vote for Vegas Vactaion as the worst and Christmas Vacation as the best.

    BEST: the first one
    WORST: all the rest
Honestly, the first Vacation is a classic too many times over. The rest are just pale imitations, especially Xmas and Vegas.
Especially Xmas -- what, Audrey is suddenly 4 years older than Rusty? What's up with THAT?!!

Matthew, it's been a running joke throughout the series that they have different kids all the time.

    Best: Vegas Vacation
    Worst: Vacation
Oh come on! Vegas Vacation was the SH*T! That movie made me laugh so much. Especially when Clark went into that one off beat casino and started betting on games like Hi - Low, Paper, Rock Scissors and war. I can watch that movie over and over. Christmas was the next best, but I'll only watch it around the holiday season. Time to dust off my copy!

Christmas Vacation comes close to the original, but I give the nod to Vacation.
