Best way to handle flies? (1 Viewer)

First ants, now the flies are back in force around the bathroom sink. Small enough to fit through the screen holes with ease.

Any advice, and do bug zappers really work?

Bug zappers usually only kill "good" bugs
pour boiling water down the sink to kill the eggs. A Vacum Cleaner works well to make them all pay

Man, as much as I hate ND, I love the fact that there are surprisingly few creepy crawlies here, just mosquitos.

Calgary is a concrete wasteland...hardly any creepies and crawlies here either.

The boiling water trick is brilliant! Hmm, odd they are coming out from the sink though.

They are called Drain Flys. They are a nuiscance and can be killed with boiling water. I would also check and see if there is a commercial product available that you could pour down your drain to kill the flys in case the boiling water doesn't quite get them all.
