I realize that WMV files can't be easily edited (at least not through most of the video apps I have), but what are the best programs to convert them?

My main goal is to import them into Premiere. I used to have a utility (which there are hundreds out there) that converted the WMV to an uncompressed AVI, but I forget where I downloaded it from. Has anyone used any of the "Free" utilities successfully to do this?

I'd preferable like to use something that has a decent reputation (since I will loading this on my PC at work and really can't afford to use 'buggy' software), and I'd also like to use the "Free" route for now because I don't have a need for this sort of thing all the time, it's more of a one shot deal.

Well, to answer my own question, I just found out about a beta plug-in for Premiere 6.5
    Windows Media Plug-in for Premiere

I was able to import the video into Premiere and it seems to be running smoothly.
