I'm working to take a Vegas Vacation in the next 2 months (May 28th to be specific) for about 4 days, and I'm looking for the best way to book it. Should I go with a travel agent, should I go to one of those Travelocity or Priceline websites, or is there another method I should go about.

For reference, I'm going to leave from Chicago Midway or Chicago O'Hare, and will be staying through June 1st.

    Thanks!!

I recently visited Vegas (mid-March). Take a look at the actual web site for the hotel where you want to stay. I got lucky and caught an internet special for 3-weekend nights (fri, sat, & sun) @ Caesar's (www.caesars.com) for $125/night. Great deal compared to what the other online travel services were offering ($189-229/night) at the time.

For your flight, check Southwest, AirTran, America West, among others. See if you can cut out the middle man.

BTW, Vegas was off the hook. Went with 22 other guys for a bachelor party. It was my first visit...I want to go back...Time flew by too fast. Caesar's is so huge that we barely got out of the hotel & casino.

sometimes a travel agent is the way to go. but sometimes the hotels/casino's is the way to go, for booking room wise, since they run specials alot of the time.
Then you can just do the priceline.com for flights(or whatever you do for booking flights)

Also staying a litle bit off the strip is cheaper.
    Downtown or The Palms/Orleans.

But I'd suggest Orleans which is in the radius of Rio and the Palms.
Not to far away from the strip.

You can usually take a curtesy shuttle from Orleans to the strip.

Orleans usually has $80 a night.

Yes, Caesars Palace is huge, they are expanding yet again to the forum shops.

If your in Caesars Palace, be sure to visit me at Antiquities(the Celebrity autograph store)

If you want to stay on the strip in a decent hotel, the Monte Carlo, Excalibur, NYNY and Luxor are resonably priced, and the locations of the hotels are great. If you want something cheaper, try the Holiday Inn Boardwalk, which is right on the strip next to the Monte Carlo.

If you plan on spending very little time in your room, you could try the Imperial Palace, though, from what I understand, the place is sort of scummy.

If that's Memorial Day weekend, you may be hosed.

Some of the best deals to LV I have gotten have been through airlines via package deals:

    Frontier Vactions
    America West Vacations
    Ted Vacations

Also got a great deal several years ago through MLT Vacations.

But as Matt Gordon said, you'll have to pay through the nose for Memorial Day weekend (if you are lucky enough to even find any availability).

    I'll second:

    www.americawestvacations.com

    and add:

    http://www.swavacations.com

    http://www.alaskaair.com

I have used all 3 of these and preferred the Alaskan Airlines package the best. America West would be my second choice, just not as comfortable a flight as Alaska offered (more leg room).

Have fun! I had planned to go this upcoming weekend (my 30th birthday!) but have put it off until summer when it's warmer and when there is better (hotter) weather in Vegas.

Apparently, Southwest Vacations has a special going right now for Vegas. Check it out quickly!

MLT and Southwest would be good. We booked our trip to Vegas via the hotel's website and got a steal for the Luxor($65 a night).

Shop around and compare the 2 and see what you get. Chances are with the dates you want to go, You might not find any availability. Get your airfare paid for fast if you get a decent rate. Hotel wise, it all depends on where you want to stay and how good you want it.

Thanks, all! I ended up going through Expedia, they had the best price and flexibility for flight times.
