    Hi All,

I did a search of this forum but couldn't uncover the answer to a question my parents had as they build their HT room.

What is the best kind/type of insulation to maximize soundproofing in their room? I don't know much about this so I'm not sure what else I could tell you. I know different insulation has different "R" values - is there a recommended value for HT rooms?

They're not HT nuts like me, and they don't want to go too much out of their way in terms of soundproofing. But, they do want to consider the best insulation type.

They may also install soundboards - any advice or thoughts on that?

    Thanks for the help!

Scott,I don't know the R#,but I got mine at Home Depot. It clearly says on the bags that it is insulation designed for sound barrier use.I believe mine was made by Owens Corning. After using mine in my floating ceiling I lowered the noise level by 60% travelling from the basement to the main floor.Hope this helps.

Thanks Wayne, that helps a lot. I'll make sure to tell my parents to look for that at Home Depot.
